Fortnightly eBulletin

The Geelong Writers’ eBulletin is sent by email fortnightly. Geelong Writers’ eBulletin has all manner of insights into the literary world including events, reviews, articles, reports and opportunities. The current copy is sent to all members and past copies can be downloaded from our website.

Occasional Publications

Around Geelong: Place, Memory, Home

Geelong Writers Inc published an anthology of written and graphic work about Geelong in their 2002 anthology Around Geelong: Place, Memory, Home. The first print run of 300 copies sold out within weeks and more have been printed. You can purchase copies by mailing your order to 'Geelong Writers Publications', The Treasurer, PO Box 1306, Geelong 3220, at the cost of $15 per copy or $25 for two. Add $2 per book for postage.

Railway Lines

These small books offer a variety of short stories and poems by local writers, for the eager reader and jaded commuter alike. Available at Geelong Writers events and by mailing your order to 'Geelong Writers Publications', The Treasurer, PO Box 1306, Geelong 3220, at $3.00 per copy. Add $2 per book for postage.

Word Limits for Articles

The editor welcomes articles for Geelong Ink by members – please email geelongwriters@gmail.com to discuss your concept before sending. Strict word limits are necessary because of the A5 format – details below.

250 words: book reviews on writers and writing (half page or a little over) and reviews on books published by GW members
70: other books
350: writer's diary (one page with graphic)
400: profile of writer (will fit on one page if in columns)
700: articles on writing/publishing/editing, etc (will fit on 2 pages if in columns)
250: miscellaneous articles including reports of past events

Writers' Groups

The newsletter is always happy to publish requests for members who wish to network with others about poetry, prose fiction or special interest groups, such as family history, script-writing, etc.

Breathstream Tanka Poets

The Breathstream Tanka Poets meet at Belmont Library on the first Friday of each month from 12.30-2.30 pm to explore the writing of this intriguing poetry form.
Tanka is a highly-structured form of five line verse, with its origins in Japanese culture, but now Westernised and practised across the world.
All comers are welcome and active participation a must. The cost is $5 a meeting, to cover printing and room rental.
